Santa Clara County, CA – Santa Clara Valley Healthcare (SCVH), California’s second-largest public health and hospital system, is opening its first North County clinic on November 13. Located at 4151 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto, Valley Health Center (VHC) North County will provide quality and convenient primary care for those living in the areas of Palo Alto, Mountain View, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills.
“It’s essential that every person, every family in this County have access to primary and preventative health care,” said County of Santa Clara Supervisor Joe Simitian, who represents North County residents. “Having conveniently located health care services takes some of the stress and worry out of visiting a doctor. It allows people to focus on their health, family, work and school.”
“This is an absolute win for our community,” added Supervisor Simitian. “A County primary care clinic in the North County will make it easier for people to access the care they need, when and where they need it.”
Supervisor Simitian, Chair of the County of Santa Clara’s Health and Hospital Committee, was the champion and advocate for the VHC North County location when it was approved by the Board of Supervisors in 2022. The 24,500-square-foot facility will provide family medicine, urgent care, behavioral health, laboratory, pharmacy and diagnostic imaging services. It will also be one of the first County facilities to contain an adult-sized changing table, which can be an immense convenience for caregivers.
“The County of Santa Clara has made health care for everyone a top priority and it’s important that we are delivering this wide range of services in North County, including those supporting physical and behavioral health,” said County of Santa Clara Supervisor Otto Lee, who also serves on the Health and Hospital Committee.
The opening of the facility will also ease the burden on SCVH’s VHC Sunnyvale, which currently provides services to most of North County. SCVH provides high-quality, accessible healthcare and excellent service to everyone in Santa Clara County, regardless of their social-economic status or ability to pay and this facility will be a great health care option for those who struggle with the Bay Area economy.
“Santa Clara Valley Healthcare’s three hospitals and 14 clinics are here to ensure better health for everyone in our community,” said Paul E. Lorenz, Chief Executive Officer for Santa Clara Valley Healthcare. “We appreciate Supervisor Simitian ensuring this North County project came to fruition and the Board of Supervisors overall commitment to health care in Santa Clara County.”
VHC North County becomes SCVH’s 14th Valley Health Center location that works in conjunction with the County’s three public hospitals – Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, O’Connor Hospital, and St. Louise Hospital – as part of the county’s comprehensive medical and behavioral health care system. VHC North County’s multi-lingual staff will care for patients in a culturally appropriate setting to welcome everyone in the community.
“Communicating in a patient’s native language enhances comfort and the quality of care, allowing for more time to focus on actual healthcare,” said Serena Sy, Director of Primary Care Operations for Santa Clara Valley Healthcare.
