San Jose, CA November 13, 2023—Tabard Theatre announces Sean Biggar: Backporch Serenade a mellow night of bluesy Americana music with a vintage vibe on Friday, November 17 at 8pm. The evening will feature Sean Biggar, Dirt Rakers Duo, and Sean Forth. Tickets are available for in-person or livestream. For those unable to attend at the downtown San Jose venue or to tune in live, the high-quality multi-camera recording will also be available On-Demand for 30 days following the show. In-person single tickets are $15 for General Admission and $25 for reserved Cabaret seating thru November 10. After November 10 single tickets are $20 for General Admission and $30 for reserved Cabaret seating. Livestream or On-Demand tickets are choose your own pricing, $5, $10 or $20.
Sean Biggar is a multi-talented musician with a gift for crafting melancholic blues and soulful western waltzes. Coming from the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area, his live performances are a testament to his ability to infuse every note with raw emotion, creating an atmosphere that resonates deeply with the audience. The energy in the room during his sad song shootout is nothing short of captivating, as Sean pours his heart and soul into each performance. His collaboration with the humble harmonicist Ryan Walker adds an extra depth to the stage, creating a dynamic experience that lingers in the hearts of those in attendance. They are following the road map left behind by their influences: Roger Miller, Peter Green, Willie Nelson, and Little Walter.
The Dirt Rakers Duo is an acoustic subset of the Santa Cruz Mountains Americana band Dirt Rakers. Based in Boulder Creek, California, a “twisted version of Mayberry,” the duo features Erik Rozite (acoustic guitar and vocals), and Jayne Williams (mandolin and vocals). The Dirt Rakers are a proudly home-brewed group that draws their sound from the redwoods and the mountains that they love and the music they grew up listening to, from their own collections and their parents’ and grandparents’ stacks of vinyl.
Sean Forth is a singer-songwriter from the Bay Area currently living tucked away in the Santa Cruz mountains. Sean started his musical trip in 2014 forming Oakland-based garage rock boogie band, The Skookum Brothers alongside his three older brothers. They played all over the Bay Area, up and down California and Oregon and made their way to the East Coast, opening up for touring acts such as Fred and Toody (Dead/Moon), Adia Victoria, Scary Little Friends, Ride the Blinds, and many more. In 2019 Sean started playing with Magick Blues Band, an improvisational psychedelic rock group out of San Jose, that still gigs all around the South Bay. These days he is focusing more on his acoustic music pulling from folk/country/singer- songwriter influences such as Michael Harley, John Prine, Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark. Sean is all about singing songs and stories that can be easily shared around a kitchen table with friends.
Tabard Theatre (formerly Theatre on San Pedro Square) — San Jose’s “Hidden Gem” venue for the performing arts— is located in the heart of historic San Pedro Square in downtown San Jose amid a bustling restaurant district. This intimate and unique venue brings a touch of Manhattan to the South Bay with its rustic yet edgy feel. Old brick walls, plush leather seats, antique wood plank floors, sweeping red velvet drapes and a 35-foot mahogany bar create a casual cabaret atmosphere. The three-quarter round cabaret stage— described by artists as “a room that feels big and small at the same time” — is the perfect setting for live music and theatre.
