Vroom…vroom…vrooming in my red convertible Beemer as I am on my way for a long and relaxing weekend getaway to the colorful town of Windsor and its Hampton Inn & Suites Windsor, located perfectly in the center of town within the walking distance to the beloved Charlie Brown Christmas Tree Grove at the Windsor Town Green Park featuring hundreds of unique  community decorated trees, lining the park with a festive ambience of a magical destination which transforms the park into a holiday wonderland (now through January 7, 2026).

Yes! Windsor, California is my destination – not in Great Britain which I reserve for the British Royalty…  just two hours drive from my home in San Francisco. No need to spend hours waiting in long lines at the crowded to the max international airports. Flying for over 10 to 12 hours on the large plane packed to capacity with coughing crowds attired in unattractive masks to the sounds of crying babies.. Not for me… My motto is:  I don’t have to go away to get away.

I am heading to Windsor in Sonoma, better known as California’s amazing Wine County.  Wearing my comfy sweats and Nike’s, while listening to the smooth sounds of jazz on my car’s radio  – this is as good as it gets.  I am ready for a fab R&R to enjoy and share my getaway’s experience with my loyal readers… and that’s you.

It has been a while since I visited the picturesque town of Windsor on the way to my friend’s wedding in Sonoma County. And it’s about time I visit it again! And yes, they are still happily married with two kids.

The month of December (or any other time) is a perfect time of the year to visit this lovely town with its neighboring attractions and the perfect weather. And why not make it a long weekend getaway and exploration with the lovely, relaxing and comfortable overnight stay at the pet friendly!!! * Just a one hour drive from Windsor is the Vichy Hot Spring Resort and Retreat in Ukiah, a popular place to visit and frequently enjoyed by the world famous (and my favorite) writer Jack London who lived in Sonoma County’s small town of Glen Ellen. info@vichysprings.com; 707-462-9515

* Say hello to the Peanuts team at the neighboring Charles Schultz Museum (a ten mile drive from Windsor) and Snoopy’s Home Ice (info@snoopyshomeice.com; 707-546-7147) Skate, play hockey or take lessons while dining at the “Warm Puppy Cafe.” And don’t miss visiting their enormous gift shop. Hot news: John M. Chu, the award winning brilliant Hollywood Director of the fab “Wicked” movies fame, just announced his next movie project: “The Peanuts Team” – and you heard it here first!

* Rose Water, Perfume & Rosey Gifts just in time (or always) for the holidays on your visit to the Russian River Rose Company in Healdsburg 707-433-7455; www.russian-river-rose.com. With only a 10 miles drive from the center of Windsor – this is a magical and aromatic place to visit! Surrounded by 500 varieties of roses – it is a must place to visit and enjoy!! A delicious rose petals hot tea, rose water and their fragrant estate produced wonderful rose cologne, soothing body splash, massage balm and food ingredients will enrich your life of beauty and delight.

Returning to The Hampton Inn & Suites Windsor’s for a gourmet dinner and the inviting hot tub in the hotel’s resort-style pool setting with a glass of your locally produced wine is a perfect treat for relaxing after a marvelous weekend in the wine country.

Cheers and Happy Holidays!
