sjDANCEco presents Spring DANCE Festival in San Jose

April 29 & 30

When you are as fabulous, talented and a grand presenter of dance as Gary Masters is – his last festival production before he retires, or as I say: graduates in June, is celebrated in a grand style!

Over 70 choreographers and Bay Area dance organizations (from young children to professional companies and everything in between) present many styles of dance on the Eastridge festival stage during a free non-stop 5-hour program each day.

The professional dance portions of the show are at 12:30 pm, 1:30pm and on the half-hour all day long. Free dance classes will be offered at 12:00pm, 1:00pm, and on-the-hour throughout the day.

The celebration is part of Bay Area Dance Week and National Dance Week (April 21-30, 2023) and showcases the diversity of the Bay Area dance community.

The sjDANCEco is a year-round contemporary dance company based in San Jose, California that produces world premieres by its core and guest choreographers, and presents the very best of Contemporary and Classic Modern Dance and Masterpieces of the American Modern Dance Repertory.

In addition to a full season of dance concerts, sjDANCEco also is a major participant each Spring in free outdoor dance presentations during National Dance Week, international dance festivals, and has a full schedule of contemporary dance classes for the advanced and professional dancers.

sjDANCEco ignites the spirit of dance. sjDANCEco is a registered 501(c)(3)

Opera San Jose presents Puccini’s “Tosca”

April 15 – 23, 2023

With breathtaking music and some of opera’s most celebrated arias, the stunning production of Puccini’s “Tosca” concludes Opera San Jose’s 2022-23 spectacular season.

The work follows the tragic story of a tempestuous opera singer Tosca and her impassioned lover, the artist Mario Cavaradossi and the righteous, yet dangerous, Baron Scarpia.

Their lust, ardor, and passion light up the streets of Rome and will leave the stage bathed in tears and despair with the audience reeling for more!

The Opera San José orchestra is joined by Maestro Joseph Marcheso, while showcasing off operas brightest young stars.

Maria Natale returns to the California Theatre for her role debut as Floria Tosca, Adrian Kramer makes his Opera San José debut as the ill-fated Mario Cavaradossi, and Kidon Choi debuts as the threatening Baron Scarpia.

Curious to explore best-kept foodie secret? Start planning your Portuguese dining journey right here in the Bay Area.

Since no part of Portugal is very far from the ocean, seafood is among the country’s most popular delicacies.

Beyond the famous sardines and salt-dried cod (known as Bacalhau), other typical dishes include roasted octopus, seafood stews and cataplanas, and locally caught shellfish – simple yet impeccably prepared ingredients, always dressed with the fruity and delicious taste of Portuguese olive oil.

Curious to explore Europe’s best-kept foodie secret?

Check out the 5 participating restaurants and start planning your Portuguese food journey in the Bay Area: Explore and celebrate the best Portuguese cuisine in the following participating restaurants: “Adega” in San Jose (my favorite);  “La Salette” in San Francisco; “Petiscos” in San Jose; “Tasca Tasca” in Sonoma; “Uma Casa” in San Francisco.
